Animation is good!

It's amazing how much fun this stuff is to do.  It's been a good 9 months now and I usually get bored of doing something a good 10 minutes into it.  I still dread drawing sketches however, so I'm developing a method of abstract depiction that involves fecal matter and a lawn mower.  So far it's a vast improvement...

It's amazing how fast work I have done looks like total shit when I look back on it.  I figure that means either I am improving at an equally rapid pace or that I am just a negative ass.  Whatever, I prefer to think of myself as a realist.  Just remember, it doesn't matter if you look at that glass as half full or half empty if that glass is full of piss.  This is getting off course...here's a new animation!!!

Yeah, anyway... New assignment!  Well...new for the blog, but I've been working on it for a few weeks now.  It kinda started out resembling a pile of shit, but I think I pulled it up to the level of a well polished pile of shit!  Basically it's a guy that gets mad at a jar he can't open and devolves into an ape.  I think I was a little tired when I came up with it.  Enjoy!!!

High Jump!!!

New animation!!!  I'll skip the earlier phases and just show you the beauty right out of the box.  I might have an issue with negative feedback...or feedback in general.  I'm trying to better myself but there must be something in my body language when people are critiquing my work that puts them off.  I dunno, maybe it's the bared teeth or me giving them the finger until they stop talking.  It's funny how people pick up on the subtle things...  Anyway, enjoy!

Goddamnit, why hasn't Pixar called me yet?  I sent them my headshot and everything...  People keep telling me we're an entitled generation, but don't we have to be spoiled first?  Where's my piece of that pie?!  (on an unrelated note; Dad:  when you book our tropical vacation this year, I want my own KITCHEN not a fucking KITCHENETTE).

Oh yeah...animation.  Well here's what a couple weeks of polishing does to that blocking pass you saw earlier.  I'm rather happy with it:

Back to school!!!

Who knew learning could be fun, huh?!  It's back to school and not soon enough, I was getting bored.  Our first assignment of this term was our choice from a list, so of course I chose the coolest one:  a roundhouse kick.  First week was for planning and second for blocking the animation, so feast your eyes:

Holy shit!  Ok so I might have let a little time slip past there, but things get a little hectic between work, class, Diablo 3, and rescuing stray animals (helloooo ladies).  Anyway, let's just hit that fast forward button and now we're done with the first class/semester and I'm relaxing on my week off!  Phew, what a relief huh??  I know my fans are always dying for more updates, but I don't even facebook, so what the hell do you people want from me?  In any case, I swear to god I will update more during the next class, and may he strike me dead if I do not.  

So where were we...ahh yes out from balls and into...balls with legs and tails...  Well, it's an improvement!

Here we have our first "vanilla" ie plain walk.  The two walks were done in two week phases, the first being a "blocking out" and the second a refining of the walk.  Here are the two steps for the vanilla walk:

And the final assignment was a character walk, for which I chose to create the walk of a runway model:

Week 4-5

Well here we are, with week 4 and 5 come and gone.  I know my fans were just dying to see more work and I'm sorry to have kept you waiting.  I would say something pithy but I just wanted to work in the word pithy.  It sounds dirty if you say it enough.  Pithy.  

MORE BALLS!  That's what my dad would yell at me when I would cringe away from the pitches in little league.  Well here you go dad, I hope you're happy now.  In addition, a DEVASTATED pose from stu from week 5 (not unlike my time in little league as well).

Week 3, return of the week

Ahh week three, we only just started to get to know each other.  I'm fighting the urge to unload my taxpayer woes here because there is blank space to put words in.  Better not, we wouldn't want this to get therapeutic would we?  How about some EXCITED poses (see below)!

What's this, we made something animate?!  Oh, hello bouncing ball...so we meet again.  This time however, I will be the master.

Here we have our very first assignment.  Sketching isn't my strong suit, so in case you were wondering those are indeed bipeds in the picture.  Due to the relative simplicity of this assignment I have included a cute kitten in this post as well.  I think for my next post I will include some Kanye West lyrics.  The sky is the limit here folks.
